Special Event Review: Windy City RibFest

Chicago, IL

Upon our arrival to Chicago, IL we decided that our first stop would be a special festival called Windy City RibFest. It was in the heart of downtown and free to attend with a donation if you choose.

When we arrived we didn't really know what to expect, but we loved the smell of the BBQ that filled the air. The festival wasn't as big as I thought it would be either. They only had like 6 stands selling BBQ which you had to get with tickets. The choice was hard to make, but we decided upon two different places for our BBQ adventure. One was Chicago BBQ Company and the other was The Award Winning Barbecue Company.

The Chicago BBQ Company had good ribs, but they didn't have much of a smoke flavor. Something I like when eating BBQ. They were just a tad tough, but I personally liked their chipotle BBQ sauce. Ernest didn't care for it too much. I found it to have just the right spices and the perfect kick. It wasn't the best, but it wasn't bad at all.

Now the Barbeque Company intrigued us from the very beginning. It was the very first stand that we saw and wanted to try. The ribs we saw were smoked/grilled perfectly. Their taste was just good as they looked. They were tender, juicy, and had the perfect smoke flavor. Even their BBQ sauce was good. This was actually the best BBQ we had the entire trip. In fact, we plan to make sure we visit their restaurant next we visit Chicago.
