Usually when we have our road trips we pick restaurants that we have seen either on Food Network or Travel Channel shows. Smokey's BBQ was selected simply by doing a search. We had no idea where this place was or if they were any good, but we took a chance on them. A chance I am in no way disappointed about.

Finding the place via GPS was a challenge, but we did find it. The neighborhood surrounding it was like one of those small factory towns with hood possibilities. But it wasn't bad really.

Ernest ordered a slab of baby back ribs, cheesy potatoes, cole slaw, and a brisket sandwich to go. For us to find this place by chance I must admit we made a great selection. The ribs were tender, smokey, and full of flavor. And that is without sauce, mind you. The cheesy potatoes were absolutely delicious. They were very cheesy and had great flavor. You could also tell that the potatoes were fresh which is always a plus.

As for the cole slaw and BBQ brisket sandwich? The cole slaw was perfectly made. Well at least the way I like it. Not sweet nor a lot of salad dressing/mayonnaise. Good flavor with a slight kick. I didn't eat any of the sandwich, but according to Ernest it was very tender with a very good sauce and very soft roll. The only thing he wishes he got more of was a more smokey flavor. He also wasn't too happy about

This is actually a must go to restaurant if your in Chicago and want good BBQ.
